Program Information

The Boise School District Early Childhood Special Education Program (ECSE) provides services to children 3-5 years old, who qualify for special education services.  The program goals, curriculum, and materials are developmentally appropriate and geared to the differing ability levels of each child.  Children attending an ECSE classroom are provided a high quality program, and a safe and nurturing environment.  This program promotes and integrates the cognitive, communication, physical, social, emotional, and self-help areas of development through classroom activities.

In order to identify the possible need for special education services, the Independent School District of Boise City provides a Developmental Screening. The criteria to attend a developmental screening are:

◊          The child must be 3 to 5* years old at the time of the screening.
*The final screening of the school year, is for children not eligible to start kindergarten in the fall.  Children who are eligible to start kindergarten will be screened during the Boise School District Kindergarten Registration Open House. Please go to the Boise School District web page for dates;

◊          The child must live within the boundaries of the Boise School District
            (not necessarily within the boundaries of Boise City).
